Summary
for delivery 21st August, the work for Network Rail has been identified as a potential missed delivery deadline due to operational and performance issues. A Cognizant review has highlighted numerous potential areas for improvement; an initial analysis by Contino identifies further areas that could dramatically improve performance while hitting the agreed deadline
Proposal
Create a mini-squad to asses and guide development teams into a performant solution - using end to end data from APM tooling such as New Relic, the team identify pain points, collate solutions and set the focus for code owners to deliver these changes
In addition to the reactive actions to be undertaken, a parallel work stream will look at architectural and implementation for opportunities to deliver improved performance, improved scalability and cost-effective tweaks to the architecture that can be performed in small, non-disruptive updates - evolving the architecture to a performant, loosely coupled system
Caveats/Scope
focus on delivery of function and performant operation for real time usage
